But still, there are some sights in Baguio City ,Philippines and at least the night life is amusing and low-priced. The city is also etched on the Filipino consciousness as site of one of the country’s worst natural calamities, the quake of July 16 1990, which measured 7.7 on the Richter Scale and killed hundreds, mostly in the city’s vulnerable shanty towns, numerous of which cling precariously to the sides of steep valleys.

City of Baguio’s attractive feature as a divine mountain retreat that in some way counteracts the depravity of Manila has faded in young years. Even the government’s tourism secretary was excellently moved to refer to Baguio City as a “tragedy” when he visited in 2002. The reasons are not hard to divine.
